What is HorizonCare and how does it work?
HorizonCare is a doctor-led virtual healthcare service for individuals and families across South Africa. Book a consultation, meet an HPCSA-registered doctor or registered counsellor by video, then receive your treatment plan and, where appropriate, prescriptions, a sick note and referrals.
Do I need a monthly plan?
No. You can book a once-off General Consultation for R300 or a Counselling Session for R400. If you expect to need care regularly, a monthly plan from R250 is better value.
Can I book a once-off consultation?
Yes. A General Consultation with a doctor is R300 and a Counselling Session is R400, with no monthly commitment.
Can my family use HorizonCare?
Yes. EliteCare Family covers up to four members for R600 a month, and each member gets four consultations every month.
What mental-health support is available?
EliteCare Mind (R350 a month) gives you a registered counsellor, a 1-hour initial assessment and two 30-minute sessions a month, with referral to a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist if needed. EliteCare Solo + Mind (R500 a month) combines it with doctor consultations, and you can also book a once-off Counselling Session for R400.
How do I book?
Tap “Book a Consultation” to message us on WhatsApp. We’ll confirm a time that suits you and your payment details.
Will my sick note be accepted by my employer?
Sick notes may be issued by a registered medical professional following a consultation, where clinically justified. They are not guaranteed and cannot be backdated.
Can I use HorizonCare in an emergency?
No. HorizonCare is not an emergency service. In a medical emergency, call 112 from a cellphone or 10177 for ambulance services, or go to your nearest emergency unit.
Are the doctors qualified?
Yes. Every consultation is with a doctor registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and trained in telehealth. Counselling sessions are with registered counsellors.
What can the doctor prescribe?
Our doctors can prescribe medication up to Schedule 4 when it’s clinically appropriate. They can also refer you for laboratory tests or radiology.
What do I need for a consultation?
A smartphone, tablet or computer with a camera, a stable internet connection and a quiet, private space. We’ll confirm how to join your video consultation when you book.
When are you available?
Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00. We’re not available on weekends for now. You can reach us on WhatsApp or by email.
